4x60W Audio Power Amplifier
with SLA battery power
ROSSO 460B is a multichannel power amplifier with four high-performance channels using the most recent technologies of digital audio amplification. Each channel delivers a natural and a very wide detailed sound stage, showing the best sonic attributes of solid state (tight and precise bass, dynamics, high reliability) together with the SET tube characteristics (midrange warmth, rich tonalities and a
smooth non-fatiguing listening).
Thanks to the DDP™ (Digital Power Processing) technology from Tripath©, the amplifier combines an audiophile sound with a very high efficiency. That means that a small amount of power is dissipated into heat making feasible the use of a valuable wood enclosure.
Moreover, an electronic crossover with tunable frequency and gain is included on board allowing ROSSO 460B to easily implement a bi-amplification system. You have to just connect a couple of two-way loudspeakers (without passive crossover) and you are ready for
bi-amping. Get rid of all the passive components between the amplifier and the loudspeaker and enjoy the sound clarity of the power direct driving.
Alternatively you can drive a couple of classic full-range loudspeakers with the HF sections of the
ROSSO 460B, reserving the LF sections for a passive subwoofer. Other configurations are available according to the chosen setup.
On the rear panel you find two input RCA connectors for the input stereo signal and four binding post for the loudspeakers. The ROSSO 460B is delivered with default crossover setup values, you can otherwise specify your own values before ordering. In any case the parameters can be modified whenever you want through a standard RS232 serial interface.
As ultimate power supply source the ROSSO 460B makes use of SLA batteries. The batteries feed the amplifier during the listening session whereas they are recharged by an automatic charger when the amplifier is turned off.
Leave the automatic charger plugged into a live mains outlet and the
mini plug jacked into the ROSSO 460B. Note that the SLA batteries do not want to be drained before being recharged so
continual topping off after listening sessions is recommended. The charger automatically defaults to float charge mode
when max charge has been reached (its led lamp will confirm status). The rear mounted switch selects the play mode (I) or the charge mode (II). As far as standard audiophile habits are concerned, that
switch is simply an On/Off switch. Listen all day long (I), recharge at night (II). A full charge could support up to 20 hours of
non-stop play.
General specifications
- Large use of SMD components (Surface Mount Devices)
so to have very short interconnection paths and high noise immunity.
- PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) with wide planes and increased
copper thickness.
- Very short signal paths (output connectors are soldered directly on the printed board -> no cable/wiring effects).
- All the electronic circuits are completely enclosed
into a die cast aluminium box -> high shielding effect and better EMC performances.
- The electronic components are encapsulated in potting compound to prevent mechanical vibration and to ensure a good heat transfer.
- Low ESR power supply capacitors placed directly across
the supply planes of the PCB.
- Dual-Air-Core output inductors for a crystal sound,
free
of any magnetic core distortion.
- Gold plated inputs and outputs connectors.
- Microprocessor servo assisted Power On, pop free outputs.
- Soft start circuit for limiting the in-rush
current following the turn on of the amplifier.
- Bi-color LED lamp indicator (Power On/Battery status).
- 4th-order configurable L-R crossover.
- Setup parameters accessible through RS232 interface.
- Hand made wood cabinet finished according to the
best Florentine artisan tradition. Standard finish in
walnut veneer
with
solid walnut edging and
trims
(Italian walnut wood)
.
Other furniture grades
available.
- Laser etched metal plate. Custom plates available
upon request.
- Each ROSSO amplifier is supplied with its own certificate
of
origin and quality.
